About Noreen

Noreen Yazvac Artist’s Statement

“I feel blessed to have grown up with Mill Creek Park in my back yard, and it is here that that I feel I have gained my appreciation and respect for nature. This passion for nature is very inspiring and energizing and I feel the need to convey this feeling to others.  Using vibrant colors and various mediums it is my goal to try to capture the beauty of the world around me in my art. It is when my paintbrush expressions bring joy to others that I am fulfilled as an artist.”

Lantermans Mill by Noreen Yazvac

Lantermans Mill

I am a native of Youngstown, Ohio.  As a child, I embraced art as a hobby; however, my formal education in art began with Florence Hosa, my Boardman High School art teacher. A continued interest in art led me to study painting under the private instruction of artists Celeste Moran, Cherie Mohn, Christopher Leeper, and Tom Antonishak. In May 2006 I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Art degree in art history and a minor in studio art from Youngstown State University.

I am an administrative assistant at YSU’s Center for Student Progress.  My office career is very rewarding to me; however, I need to feel that connection with art and nature which helps to balance and give my life meaning and spirituality.
